What is Jawline Contouring?

Jawline contouring uses a firm dermal filler placed along the jaw angle, body and chin to create a sharper, more defined jawline without surgery. Results are immediate, settle within two weeks, and typically last 12–18 months.

A soft jawline is usually a combination of bone remodelling, descending fat and skin laxity — which is why the best plans often pair filler for definition with a tightening treatment for the skin above it.

The process

How Jawline Contouring works

  1. 01

Assessing jaw, chin and neck together

Definition depends on the angle, the chin projection and the skin under the jaw. We assess all three, since filler alone cannot fix significant laxity.

  2. 02

    Firm filler at fixed points

Product is placed on bone at the jaw angle and along the body of the mandible, defining the line rather than adding bulk.

  3. 03

    Chin balance

A slightly projected chin lengthens the jawline visually. Small amounts here often do more than large amounts along the jaw.

  4. 04

    Pairing with tightening if needed

Where skin laxity is the main issue, Ultherapy or PDO threads address it — filler on lax skin adds weight without definition.

Common questions

Jawline Contouring questions, answered

How much filler is needed for a jawline?

Typically 2–4ml across both sides, sometimes more where definition has been lost over many years. It is often staged across two appointments.

Will jawline filler fix a double chin?

No. Filler defines the bony line; it does not remove fat beneath the chin. Submental fullness needs a different approach, which we will explain honestly at consultation.

Does jawline filler help with jowls?

It can improve the appearance by restoring the line in front of and behind the jowl, but significant jowling is a laxity problem better addressed with tightening treatments.

How long does it last?

Usually 12–18 months. Firm fillers placed on bone are among the longest-lasting placements on the face.
