Botox is an FDA-approved injectable form of botulinum toxin type A that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles creating expression lines. In cosmetic use it softens frown lines between the brows, horizontal forehead lines and crow's feet. Results appear in 3–5 days, peak at about two weeks, and typically last 3–4 months.
Botox does not fill a line — it quiets the muscle that folds the skin into one. That distinction matters: it works beautifully on lines that appear when you move, and very little on lines etched into resting skin, which respond better to resurfacing or filler.

The process

We watch how your brow, forehead and eye muscles actually fire. Dosing follows your anatomy, which is why two people with the same wrinkle rarely get the same units.

A very fine needle places small amounts into the target muscles. Most people describe a brief pinch; no anaesthetic is usually needed.

Stay upright for four hours, skip strenuous exercise and facials for 24 hours, and avoid rubbing the area so the product stays where it was placed.

We reassess once the effect has fully set. Small adjustments at this visit are normal, particularly for first-time patients.
All four are botulinum toxin type A. They differ in formulation, dosing units and how quickly they take effect — not in whether they work.

Common questions
Most people notice softening at 3–5 days, with the full effect at 10–14 days. Judge your result — and any need for adjustment — at the two-week mark, not before.
The needle is very fine and each injection takes a second or two. Most patients rate it a 1–2 out of 10 and decline numbing cream. Small bumps at the injection sites settle within 15–30 minutes.
That is a dosing decision, not a property of the product. Conservative dosing preserves natural movement while still softening lines; we would rather add a little at your two-week review than start too heavy.
Muscle movement gradually returns and lines go back to how they were — they do not get worse. Many long-term patients find they need less over time because the muscles have been trained out of the habit.
Cosmetic Botox is priced per unit, and the number of units depends on the area and your muscle strength. We quote a firm number at consultation once we have assessed your movement — no estimate over the phone is reliable.
Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A used to soften frown lines and other expression lines.
Xeomin (incobotulinumtoxinA) is an FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A that relaxes expression muscles to soften frown lines.
