Lip filler is a soft hyaluronic acid gel injected to add volume, define the border or correct asymmetry in the lips. Results are visible immediately, swelling settles within 3–7 days, and the effect typically lasts 6–12 months.
Good lip work is usually invisible as work — better proportion, a defined border, a lip that hydrates rather than doubles. Volume is only one of the dials; shape and balance between upper and lower lip do most of the aesthetic work.

How Lip Fillers works
01
Deciding what you actually want
Hydration, definition and volume are three different goals needing three different techniques. We agree on which before anything is opened.
02
Thorough numbing
Topical anaesthetic, plus lidocaine in the filler itself. Lips are sensitive and there is no reason for the appointment to be unpleasant.
03
Conservative, staged volume
Half to one syringe at a first appointment is typical. Building over two visits gives tissue time to adapt and avoids the overfilled look.
04
Aftercare
Ice, sleep slightly elevated, avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and expect the first two days to look bigger than the final result.

Which filler is used where
Filler is not one product. The gel is matched to the job: soft and flexible for lips, firm and supportive for cheeks and jawline.

Common questions
Lip Fillers questions, answered
How long does lip filler swelling last?
+
The worst is in the first 24–48 hours, settling substantially by day three and fully by two weeks. Do not judge your result — or book photographs — before then.
Will lip filler look obvious?
+
Not at conservative volumes placed in the right planes. The obvious look comes from too much product, or product placed too superficially in the wrong part of the lip.
Does lip filler hurt?
+
With topical numbing and lidocaine in the product, most patients describe pressure rather than pain. Lips are the most sensitive area we treat, so we numb them most thoroughly.
What if I do not like my lip filler?
+
Hyaluronic acid can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, usually returning the lips to baseline within a day or two.
I get cold sores — can I still have lip filler?
+
Yes, but tell us beforehand. Injections can trigger an outbreak, so antiviral prophylaxis is arranged before treatment and we postpone if a sore is active.
