NightLase is a non-invasive laser treatment that gently heats the soft palate and surrounding tissue, tightening it so the airway vibrates less during sleep. It is used to reduce the intensity and frequency of snoring across a course of three sessions. It is not a treatment for obstructive sleep apnea and does not replace a diagnosis or CPAP therapy.
We are careful with this one. Snoring can be a symptom of obstructive sleep apnea, which is a medical condition with cardiovascular consequences. If your history suggests apnea, we will ask you to be assessed by a sleep physician before we treat anything.

The process
How NightLase works
01
Screening for sleep apnea first
We ask about witnessed pauses in breathing, daytime sleepiness and diagnosed conditions. Where apnea is suspected, medical assessment comes first.
02
Gentle laser heating of the palate
Er:YAG energy is applied inside the mouth in a non-ablative mode. There are no incisions and no anaesthetic is required.
03
A three-session course
Tissue tightens progressively across the series, which is spaced over roughly six weeks.

Common questions
NightLase questions, answered
Does NightLase treat sleep apnea?
+
No. It targets snoring. Obstructive sleep apnea is a medical condition requiring diagnosis and treatment by a sleep physician — please do not use NightLase as a substitute for that.
How quickly does NightLase work?
+
Many patients — or their partners — notice a difference after the first or second session, with the fullest effect after the third.
How long do the results last?
+
Up to about a year. Tissue laxity returns gradually, and a maintenance session restores the effect.
Is the treatment uncomfortable?
+
It feels warm inside the mouth and is generally well tolerated. There is no numbing needed and no recovery.
